The 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 requires 5w-30 oil with a capacity of 4.5 quarts. It's important to change the oil every 5,000 to 10,000 miles to prevent engine issues. Using high-quality oil is crucial for optimal engine performance. Neglecting oil changes can lead to engine failure, indicated by a burning smell and decreased gas mileage. Any knocking noise from the engine should be addressed promptly to avoid potential car damage.

The 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 takes SAE 5W-30 oil with the API Certification Seal. The 4.3L V6 engine requires 4.5 quarts (4.3 liters) of oil and the other engine options need 6 quarts (5.7 liters) in total.

I put Castro GTX 5w-30 full synthetic high mileage oil in my 2011 car, which has over 114,000 miles on it. We switch it out every 5,000 to 7,500 miles. I also mix in a quart of Lucas oil treatment during each oil change. After each change, the oil always looks clean. I suggest adding Lucas oil treatment with every oil change as it makes a noticeable difference.

Anything dated after 2011 requires 5w30 full synthetic oil. It must be specified as DexOs1 to prevent potential problems down the line.
