The recommended engine oil for the 2011 Kia Sportage with a 2.4 liter engine is either SAE 5W-20 or 5W-30, and it requires 4.9 quarts. To start an oil change on the vehicle, ensure it has been turned off and parked for a couple of hours to allow the oil to cool down. Locate the oil pan in the engine compartment and find the drain plug beneath it. Place a bucket under the plug, remove it, and let the oil drain completely into the bucket, which may take around an hour. Once it stops dripping, reattach the drain plug. Locate the intake port on the top of the oil pan, use a funnel to refill it with oil to the full mark, ensuring not to overfill. A bit under the full mark is okay, as overfilling can lead to leaks and oil burning off. Once the oil pan is filled, close the port, clean any spilled oil, and the oil change is complete.
