The 2003 Jeep Wrangler requires SAE 10W-30 motor oil. Models with the 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine use around 4 quarts of oil, while those with the 4.0-liter inline-6 engine typically need about 6 quarts with a dry filter. Jeep suggests changing the oil every 7,500 miles, but if you frequently off-road or drive in stop-and-go traffic for long periods, you may need more frequent maintenance. SAE 10W-30 is a bit thicker than what newer vehicles use and is suitable for various weather conditions. Popular oil brands for the Wrangler include Castrol Edge, Amsoil, Valvoline, and Royal Purple. Make sure to check the oil level with the vehicle on a level surface and the engine off for at least five minutes. Expect to pay between $140 and $160 to have the oil changed in a 2003 Wrangler, with labor costs ranging from $30 to $50.

I drive a 2003 Jeep Wrangler with a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine. I'm not sure where people are getting the idea that it only needs 4 quarts of oil. When I changed my oil today, it took nearly 6 quarts. I'd estimate it's between 5 3/4 and 7/8. I also replaced the small oil filter. My Jeep is all stock with the original engine and only has 31,000 miles on it; I've had it for 4 years. I don't believe it has any special oil pan, so I was surprised to hear others saying it only requires 4 quarts.
