For the 2014 Nissan Altima, it is recommended to use SAE 5W-30 oil. You will need 5-1/8 quarts with an oil filter change and about 4-3/4 quarts without the filter. It is suggested to use Genuine Nissan engine oil or an equivalent with the API certification seal. While a genuine Nissan oil filter is recommended, any compatible filter can be used as long as it is replaced at every oil change. The frequency of oil changes will vary depending on the type of oil selected, aiming for every 5,000 miles with conventional oil and around every 7,500 miles with synthetic oil.
