Before changing the oil, ensure the car has been turned off and has cooled down for a couple of hours to avoid getting burned. Locate the oil pan and drain plug underneath the car's engine. Place a bucket under the plug, remove it, and let the oil drain completely, which may take about an hour. Reinstall the drain plug and find the oil intake port on top of the oil pan. Using a funnel, fill the oil pan to the full level without overfilling to prevent leaks and oil burning. Close the port securely, clean up any spilled oil, and you're done with the oil change.
