The front axle nut on a Dodge Ram 3500 requires a 42mm nut. When working with lug nuts on a car, it's important to handle them carefully to avoid damage. Over-tightening could result in snapping or stripping, especially if the nuts are old or rusted. Stripped nuts will just spin in place, making them difficult to remove. If this occurs, a mechanical press might be needed to push them out, risking damage to the wheel. Snapped bolts would require removing the rotor to unthread them from the rear. To prevent these issues, it's best to exercise caution during the process.

Not every front axle nut is a 1 11/16 size. I've replaced many of them in the past and recently encountered one on a 2013 3500 crew cab dually 4wd that was a 1 5/16 size. Make sure to measure it with a micrometer or use a crescent wrench before heading to the store, to avoid buying the incorrect socket.

So, it looks like my socket is 34mm, but it's a bit loose. I own a 2016 Ram 3500 Tradesman. Unfortunately, my set only includes 32mm and 34mm sockets. I might run to the store and check if they have a 33mm socket. Do you think that size exists?

I drive a 2016 Dodge Ram 3500 HD Laramie crew cab, 4 x 4 with the 6.7 engine. The front axle nut for my truck is 1 5/16 inches. I found that 1 1/4 inches was too small, so I measured mine with a caliper to get the precise size.
