Putting them on the wrong way can lead to the wheel breaking at the stud, causing vibrations. Over time, this vibration can result in a broken wheel stud, possibly causing the wheel to fall off and lead to a serious accident. Each tire requires 5 lug nuts tightened to 85 foot pounds. Start by snugly fitting the lug nuts, then tighten them in a crisscross pattern until they are correctly torqued.
