The backup lights in the 2003 Chevy Silverado are equipped with a 921 bulb. To replace the bulb, you will only need a Phillips head screwdriver. Begin by lowering the tailgate and then removing the two screws that secure the taillight assembly. One screw is located just above the striker bolt, while the other is below the cable strap. After removing the screws, carefully pull the taillight assembly away from the truck body, being cautious not to damage any wiring. From the backside of the assembly, twist the reverse light bulb base about a quarter turn to detach it from the assembly, and then pull it out. Grasp the bulb with your index finger and thumb, and pull it straight out of the socket.
