The Ram 1500 doesn't come with a full-size spare tire because it's too big to fit under the vehicle. If you opt for a full-size spare, you'll need to buy a complete set of five tires instead of the standard four. This way, you'll have a regular tire on hand in case of emergencies. One of the main benefits of a full-size spare is that it's a long-term solution, not just a temporary fix. You can swap in the full-size spare to replace a flat tire and get back on the road without any worries. The cost of spare tires varies depending on the type you choose, with prices typically starting at around $100. A full-size spare that matches your other tires will generally be more than twice as expensive as a compact temporary spare. While some compact temporary spares can be found online for as low as $50, they tend to be pricier when bought from a tire retailer.

The Ram 1500 does not come equipped with a full-size spare tire because it is too wide to be stored underneath the vehicle.

The other responses are incorrect. A standard spare tire can be stored beneath Generation 4 (DS) and Generation 5 (DT) RAM 1500 trucks, as long as you are using the original tire size or slightly bigger.

My 23 Ram 1500 truck originally had a full-size temporary spare tire. I took it to a tire shop nearby and had them put on a regular full-size tire, which is the same size as the original one that came with the truck, on the steel rim that was originally on the truck. It fits perfectly underneath the truck.
