In your 2017 Ram 1500, the type of transmission fluid you use depends on the transmission it has. For the 6-speed automatic transmission, only ATF+4 automatic transmission fluid should be used. If your truck has the 8-speed automatic transmission, you should use Mopar ZF 8 and 9 speed automatic transmission fluid. It's recommended to check the transmission fluid level at least monthly or before embarking on a long trip. The fluid should be replaced every 60,000 miles or after a certain number of years, whichever comes first. For instance, if you have only driven 30,000 miles but the specified number of years has passed, then it's time to change the fluid. Similarly, if it has been two years but you have reached 60,000 miles, it's also time for a change.
