In a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500, the transmission is filled with fully synthetic Dexron Vi Automatic transmission fluid and requires about 6 quarts. The manufacturer recommends servicing the transmission at 30,000, 50,000, and 80,000 miles. During the service, you will need approximately 12 quarts of Dexron to fully drain and flush the system by filling and emptying it multiple times. Additionally, you will need to purchase a new transmission filter from where you bought the fluid.
