The 2009 GMC Acadia needs about 5.5 quarts of 5w-30 oil for an oil change. Before starting, ensure the car has been turned off and has cooled down for a couple of hours to avoid burns from the hot oil. Locate the oil pan underneath the engine and find the drain plug. Place a bucket beneath the plug and remove it to let the oil drain completely, which could take around an hour. When the dripping stops, replace the drain plug and then find the intake port on top of the oil pan. Using a funnel, fill the pan with oil up to the full mark, making sure not to overfill to prevent leaks and oil burn off. If there is a little extra space, that's okay. Once the oil pan is filled, close the port, clean up any spills, and you're all set.

The 2009 GMC Acadia needs 5.5 quarts (5.2 liters) of engine oil. Make sure to use SAE 5W-30 oil, as other viscosity oils like SAE 20W-50 are not approved for the 2009 GMC Acadia.

I've been using 20w50 for a decade without any issues, and my vehicle still runs as well as it did when I first purchased it.
