The ESP BAS light is a warning signal that there may be a problem with the Electronic Stability System and Brake Assist System in your 2008 Dodge Charger. These two systems are interconnected, so if there is an issue with either one, the light will activate. It's a good idea to inspect the brakes and wheel speed sensors for any signs of damage or wear that could trigger the ESP light. Even a worn brake pad could be the culprit. While driving with the ESP BAS light illuminated won't necessarily leave you stranded, it's recommended to have it checked out promptly.

In the 2008 Dodge Charger, there is a feature called the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Brake Assist System (BAS). If there is an issue with either system, a yellow ESP/BAS malfunction indicator light will illuminate when you turn the key in the ignition to the "ON" position. Once the engine starts, this light should turn off. However, if the system detects a malfunction in the ESP, BAS, or both, the light will stay on while the engine is running.
