The collision mitigation braking system in the 2018 Honda CR-V is programmed to detect obstacles and apply brakes automatically. However, there have been instances of the sensor malfunctioning, leading the car to brake unnecessarily, sometimes even at high speeds, posing a safety risk. If you experience this issue, it is important to reach out to the manufacturer. Honda was involved in a lawsuit regarding this matter, and they are now responsible for repairing the system at no cost to you, provided you can demonstrate that the braking problem is due to the CMB.

In the United States, there is currently a legal case involving the collision mitigation system (CRV) in the 2018 model of the Honda CR-V. Some vehicles are experiencing a problem where the system mistakenly detects a non-existent obstacle ahead, triggering unnecessary braking that may lead to potential accidents.

On February 26, 2022, I think Honda's issue with their Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) can be observed in their other models and still persists in newer years. Both my HRV and my son's Acura tend to flash the "BRAKE" warning light on the dashboard unnecessarily, without actually engaging the brakes, numerous times. For someone unfamiliar with the vehicle, the significant flashing orange "BRAKE" light can be alarming and unsettling. The solution, which is not always clearly communicated by the dealer, involves desensitizing the system by shortening the distance at which the CMBS light triggers. The instructions in the owner's manual can be confusing.
