The ECU receives this information from a position sensor within the tuning valve actuator. If the IMT valve is stuck open due to binding, it can lead to failure. Failing to address this issue will prevent the engine from achieving its full horsepower potential. Even though there may not be any noticeable driving issues, the ECU is the only way to detect the problem with the IMT valve.
