The error code P229F on a Mercedes Sprinter van means that one of the NOX sensors is getting a weak voltage signal. The NOX sensor works with a module to monitor exhaust and diesel emissions. The Sprinter has two NOX sensors, one before and one after the exhaust system. The van's computer will show the P229F code if it senses a lower voltage than expected from the Bank 1 sensor. This can happen if the diesel or AdBlue fluid is dirty, wrong, or not in the right amount. To fix it, clean the AdBlue tank thoroughly and check for any damage caused by soot. If needed, replace the sensor, which usually costs between $470 and $550 for parts and labor.

The Mercedes Sprinter will generate a P229F error code when the engine control module (ECM) recognizes that the sensor signal from the NOx sensor is below normal levels on the first bank.
