You can easily determine which transmission your truck has by following these steps: Stand by the driver's side of the vehicle and open the door. Check the footwell area for the clutch pedal. If you see a clutch pedal, your truck has a manual transmission. If there is no pedal present, your truck is equipped with an automatic transmission.

Can I swap the transmission from a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 that has a Hemi engine? I installed the 2003 transmission in the 2007 model, but now it's not shifting gears properly. The transmission worked fine in the truck before the swap. Could the issue be related to changing solenoids?

I appreciate your response. I own two Dodge Ram trucks, one is a 2003 model, and the other is a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie edition. I removed the transmission from the 2003 truck and installed it into the 2007 one. The transmission was working fine until I noticed that it began slipping in third gear and wouldn't shift into overdrive. It only occurred to me last night that I used AFT-4 transmission fluid from the 2003 truck, which requires AFT synthetic transmission fluid. I'm not sure if this is causing the issue, but I'm considering changing the filter and checking the solenoids to see if that resolves the problem.
