In a 2004 Toyota 4Runner, the Bank 1 Sensor 1 is situated on the exhaust manifold before the catalytic converter. It specifically works with cylinders 1, 3, and 5, and also cylinder 7 for the 4.7L V8 engine because they are all part of Bank 1. Sensor 1, known as the upstream O2 sensor, monitors the ratio of fuel to air as it comes out of the exhaust manifold. The voltage readings are then transmitted to the PCM to adjust the mixture. When the sensor starts to fail, you might experience decreased gas mileage, difficulty passing emissions tests, rough idling, and the illumination of the Check Engine Light. The estimated cost to replace this sensor ranges from $260 to $300 for parts and $90 to $115 for labor.
The sensor 1 on bank 1 of a 2004 Toyota 4Runner is positioned on the exhaust manifold's side that is farther from the catalytic converter.
