The crankshaft sensor on the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado is situated behind the starter near the intake manifold. It can be identified by a small blue band around a black plastic tube-like component that is secured by a metal bracket and one bolt. Disconnecting it involves unbolting and unplugging the wiring harness pigtail. Common error codes for a faulty crankshaft sensor are P0335 and P0339. If you are experiencing frequent engine stalling or difficulty starting, this sensor may be the culprit. Keep in mind that a failing crankshaft position sensor can resemble issues associated with a faulty fuel pump as well.
