The dipstick for checking the transmission fluid of a 2014 Ford Focus is situated close to the transmission fluid reservoir beneath the hood. Before changing the transmission fluid, ensure the car is parked on level ground and then open the hood. Locate the transmission fluid reservoir, typically positioned near the transmission, and locate the dipstick. Remove it, wipe it clean, reinsert it, and then pull it back out. Take note of the fluid level indicated, and determine how much fluid is needed to fill the reservoir. Utilize a funnel to add fluid until the reservoir is full or at the maximum level. It is acceptable to be slightly below full, but avoid overfilling. Close the reservoir and you're ready to hit the road.

stick shift transmissions do not come with a dipstick. Ford's DPS6, an option available for the 2014 Ford Focus if you did not opt for a manual transmission, is a sealed system that does not include a dipstick. You can find details about this on page 238 of your owner's manual as well as on Ford's website.
