In the 2005 Ford Focus, the fuel pump driver module can be located directly above the fuel pump inside the vehicle, on the passenger side, under the carpet. You'll see a black rectangular box connected to the wiring harness at the bottom. There will be two bolts securing it in place, so you can remove those, disconnect the wire tabs, and lift it out. Signs of a failing module may include struggles with starting the Focus, accompanied by smoke, stalling, or uneven idling. You might also notice hesitations, misfires, or power surges when driving, especially in reverse. Additionally, there are diagnostic codes like P1233 that may appear if a check engine light comes on.
