In the 2012 Chevy Malibu, you'll find three fuse boxes. They can be spotted in the engine compartment, on the driver's side in the passenger compartment, and at the cargo area. The fuse for the cigarette lighter is most likely in the rear compartment block. To get to this fuse block, open the trunk and search for the removable panel on the left side of the vehicle. The box will be situated behind this panel, which should come off easily once you release the tabs. Inside the cover, there is a diagram to help you locate the correct fuse that needs replacement. One of the Malibu's fuse blocks may come with a plastic tool for removal, but you can also use needle nose pliers. Grab both sides of the fuse and pull it straight out. Replace it with a new fuse, then test to ensure the lighter is functioning correctly.
