The fuel pump fuse for the 2005 Ford F-150 is located to the left of the steering wheel. To access the fuse box, examine the left side of the steering wheel for a small seam or crack on the dashboard. Use a screwdriver or prybar to open this panel. Inside, you will see various fuses. Behind the panel, there should be a diagram indicating the purpose of each fuse. If the diagram is not present, refer to the vehicle's owner's manual. Identify the needed fuse and remove it by pulling it out. Check for a thin strip of metal connecting the two raised sections of the fuse. If the strip is broken, the fuse is defective and needs replacement. If the strip is intact, the fuse is still good and can be reinserted. Replacement fuses typically cost around $10, making them affordable.

The fuel pump relay is located among a total of 6 relays arranged in two rows (3 on top and 3 on bottom). It is positioned as the third relay from either end, in the fuse panel on the right side kick panel. The fuel pump fuse is identified as f34 (20 amps) in the top row, located between two relays. It is the third fuse from the right side of the group of three fuses.

In the 2004-2005 F150, there was confusion about the fuel pump fuse. The fuse diagram for 2004-2008 models indicated that fuse #9 was for the fuel pump, and videos also supported this. However, it was discovered that for the 2005 model, there was no fuse #9 for the fuel pump as mentioned in the diagram - only the 2006-2008 models had this fuse. This led to difficulty diagnosing a starting issue with the truck, resembling a dead battery. Despite ruling out the fuel pump and other potential issues like the inertia switch, it was determined that the fuel pump sending module near the spare tire could be corroded and causing a short circuit. After replacing the module with a new one and still not hearing the fuel pump noise, further investigation revealed a blown fuse, labeled as #39 for the instrument panel power point 20a. Swapping this blown fuse with another of the same rating successfully resolved the issue, allowing the truck to start and the fuel pump to function. Although the 2005 model did not specify fuse #39 as related to the fuel pump, this unexpected solution ultimately fixed the problem caused by the failing fuel module and the subsequent fuse failure.

I am experiencing the same issue. I replaced the rear relay and checked the neutral switch, starter, and all wiring from front to back, but still have intermittent starting problems. Despite switching out the ignition switch with a new one, the #102 fuse still blows. This is on a 2005 F-150 5.4L with 4x4.
