To access the fuse box inside a car, look to the left side of the steering wheel and locate a small seam or crack on the dashboard. Use a screwdriver or prybar to open this panel. Inside, you will see a collection of fuses. The back of the panel will have a diagram showing the purpose of each fuse. If the diagram is not there, you can refer to the owner's manual for the vehicle. Identify the fuse needed and remove it by pulling it out. Check if the thin metal strip connecting the two sections of the fuse is intact. If it is broken, the fuse is bad and needs to be replaced. If the strip is intact, the fuse is still good and can be reinserted. Replacement fuses are generally inexpensive, costing around $10 each.
