The Ford Transit's brake controller plug is positioned on the right metal frame beneath the left side of the glove box. An inserted loopback plug is found in the connector wrapped with black tape around the wiring. An electric brake controller is a handy tool that allows the brakes on your vehicle to communicate with your trailer through the 7-pin hook-up on your hitch. By using a brake controller, the power is transferred from your vehicle to your trailer's brakes, helping to minimize the strain on your vehicle's brakes and leading to safer braking experiences.

In 2020, the Transit equipped with the HD Trailer Tow Package includes a connector for the trailer brake control module. You can find it situated behind the lower dash cup holder molding in the center. It's mounted on the right metal frame underneath the left side of the glove box. Inside the connector, there is a loop back plug with black tape around the wiring. This is where you'll locate the wire connected to the electric brake pin on the exterior trailer connector.

The Ford Transit does not come equipped with a plug for a brake controller. If you plan on towing a trailer that needs a brake controller, you'll have to buy and set up a separate brake controller from another company.
