The 2007 VW Jetta's transmission control module (TCM) is located under the passenger seat, so you'll need to remove the carpet on that side. These vehicles have a reputation for water leaks that can damage the TCM and wiring harness. Signs of a malfunctioning TCM include sluggish acceleration, unexpected gear changes, and being unable to shift out of neutral. Continuing to drive with a faulty TCM can lead to permanent damage to your transmission's wiring.

You can locate the 2007 VW Jetta TCM in the engine compartment towards the rear of the engine block, close to the battery.

On a 2006 Jetta, the fuel filter is located behind the front left fender near the driver's door. If you have a '06 model, don't waste time removing your seat or checking under the right wipers close to the ECM. Simply loosen the fender and remove the wheel well to save yourself time, effort, and frustration. Best of luck to everyone. This will be the last Volkswagen I purchase. From now on, I will stick to Chevy or Ford for their reliability, affordability of parts, and not needing specialized tools. Volkswagens are more suitable for individuals who enjoy working on cars rather than driving them – they are for people who buy new vehicles and trade them in every few years.
