A hybrid engine combines the advantages of both gasoline and electric power in one vehicle. In the Ford Fusion, the 12-volt battery is located in the trunk wall on the driver's side. To access it, you need to remove the rear trim called "flashing," then release the clips on the left-hand wall and the floor panel. The Fusion uses a combination of a traditional gasoline engine and an electric motor, making it a hybrid of power sources. Unlike fully electric cars, the Fusion can recharge while driving or braking, not just when it's plugged in. When driving at highway speeds, the Fusion's engine both powers the generator and recharges the hybrid battery, achieving excellent fuel efficiency of 41 mpg.
