The cabin air filter on a 2006 Chevy Malibu can be found behind the glovebox inside the passenger cabin. To replace the filter, first, open the passenger door to access the glovebox. Inside, locate the damper cord on the right side and unhook it. Push on the right and left sides to release the stops and allow the glovebox to hang down. Behind it, disconnect the light connector. You'll then see the housing cover for the cabin air filter. Remove the cover by disconnecting the latch at the top, then take out the old filter and insert a new one, ensuring the air flow indicator is facing downward. Put the cover back in place and reattach the glovebox as it was originally.
