For different model years of the Chevrolet Equinox, the child safety lock can be in various positions. For 2018 to 2021 models, locate the child safety lock switch inside the rear door marked with a unique white on black stick figure. To activate, switch it to the right and to deactivate, switch it left. For 2016 and 2017 models, there is a keyhole on the rear door. Turn your main car key clockwise to enable the child lock and counterclockwise to disable it. In Chevy Equinox models older than 2016, the child safety lock button can usually be found on the front of the Audio system, simply featuring a lock symbol. It will light up when the child safety locks are engaged.
