The Ford Transit has its gas tank located on the driver's side of the van within the driver's door frame. To refuel, you must keep the door open. There is a slim elongated panel on the outer part of the Transit that can be opened by pulling underneath a tab. The gas cap has a secure spring-loaded opening that automatically closes itself without needing to be released. When filling up, insert the fuel nozzle and wait for it to shut off. Allow around 10 seconds for any leftover gas to drain out. To finish, snap the door back into place. The Ford Transit can hold approximately 26 gallons of either regular unleaded or diesel fuel. If it runs on diesel, there is a lower door provided for adding diesel exhaust fluid.
