The BMW X3 does not have a starter relay like most vehicles. Instead, its starter is controlled through the Integrated Supply Module (IVM), which is located in the engine compartment on the passenger side near the firewall. To access the IVM, you need to first remove the cabin air filter and housing. The housing lid can be easily removed, and then you need to release a clip on the bottom half of the housing. Once the housing is out, you'll see a cluster of wires and fuses below it. The IVM itself is situated inside a separate box below the housing. To reach the IVM, you need to remove the lid of this box by unscrewing the two screws. The IVM is located on the left side of the box, next to two relays. There are a total of seven wiring harnesses plugged into the IVM – three on top and four on the bottom.

If you need to find relays for a 2006 BMW X3, you can locate them behind the glove box instead of under the hood. To access the relays, you will need to take out the glove compartment and then remove a metal housing. Once that's done, you'll have access to all the relays.

I own a 2007 BMW X3 and even after checking under the hood and behind the glove box, I still couldn't find the relay.

My 2013 BMW X3 is turning over but won't start. The fuel pump seems to be functioning fine, but the ignition coil lacks the power needed to start my car. The gauge cluster and display are operational on battery power. Can you assist me with this issue, please? Thank you, Satish.
