In the 2014 Ford Escape, the 1.6 cylinder head temperature sensor is located at the back of the engine on the passenger side of the engine bay. This sensor is linked to the air intake temperature sensor and is usually mounted on the right valve cover. If this sensor malfunctions, it can trigger a check engine light and lead to overheating issues. If you use a diagnostic tool, the error code displayed will be p1299, and failing to address this problem promptly can lead to serious complications. The vehicle may go into limp mode to prevent engine damage. The CHTS isn't situated at the rear of the cylinder head; instead, it's found at the end of the cylinder head on the driver's side of US models. You can locate it below the plastic coolant manifold and just above the transmission bellhousing.
