The other sensors will be positioned after the catalytic converter, giving you a total of three sensors. Signs of malfunctioning sensors include the check engine light coming on, a sudden drop in fuel efficiency, and a strong smell resembling rotten eggs or sulfur. You might also see dark smoke coming from the exhaust pipe or experience engine hesitation and jerking while driving.
