The blend door actuator for the 2014 Chevy Malibu is situated in the passenger side footwell behind the dashboard, atop the heater core assembly. Accessing the actuator requires removing the dashboard, which can be a challenging task involving significant manual work. One of the indicators of a malfunctioning blend door actuator is a ticking or clicking sound originating from the dashboard region. Replacement parts typically range from $20 to $35, depending on whether it is an aftermarket or OEM item. Costs for the replacement job, including both parts and labor, can vary between $250 and $300 at a dealership or auto service shop.
The initial response is not very intelligent. When someone inquires about the blend door, you suggest the door lock actuator instead. If you are earning money for providing such responses, you really shouldn't - it's ridiculous! The defrost function is located in the dashboard, not in the door.
There are a pair of these, one located in each door. They are situated within the door panel and you'll have to remove the panel in order to access them.
