To find the coolant temperature sensor on a 2005 Ford Freestar, start by sitting in the driver's seat and locating the hood release lever to the left near your door. Once outside, lift the latch and release the safety lever. Inside the vehicle, locate the thermostat near the cylinder head on the left, and just above it, you'll find the sensor. You can buy a replacement sensor for around $20 to $50 depending on where you purchase it.
