In a 2008 Chevy Impala, the fuel pressure regulator is located on the back side of the fuel rails, where it connects to the engine. This small regulator plays a crucial role in regulating fuel pressure before it enters the fuel rails. If the fuel pressure regulator is malfunctioning, it can cause the engine to run either too rich or too lean. When stuck open, it leads to an overflow of fuel into the engine, causing it to run rich with unburnt fuel. Conversely, if it is stuck closed, you may experience engine stalling and difficulty with idling.

I performed a tune-up and replaced the fuel pump on my 2009 Impala in the morning. However, when I started and drove the car right away, it would cut off. After sitting all night, in the morning, it didn't pick up right away. It hesitated a bit before picking up the gas.
