In a 2007 Ford Focus, the fusible link is situated inside the fuse box. To access the fuse box, look towards the left side of the steering wheel and search for a small seam or crack in the dashboard. You can use a screwdriver or prybar to open it. Inside, there are various fuses. The back of the panel you removed will have a diagram showing the purpose of each fuse. If it's not there, check the owner's manual for the car. Once you've identified the necessary fuse, simply pull it out. If the thin strip of metal connecting the two raised sections is broken, the fuse is defective and needs replacing. If the strip is intact, the fuse is still good and can be reinserted. A new fuse typically costs around $10, making them affordable.

The connection point between the starter and alternator is situated inside the wire, resembling a splice. It is approximately 1 1/2 inches in length and has a flat edge to it.
