In the 2012 Hyundai Sonata, the glow plug relay can be found above the alternator and starter motor, located on the left side with the other glow plugs inside the central relay box. The purpose of the glow plug relay is to monitor the timing, electrical current, and duration needed to power the glow plugs. It receives input from the ECU (engine control unit) to perform these functions. Replacing the glow plug relay for your vehicle could cost anywhere from $75 to $150. If the glow plug relay malfunctions, you may experience difficulty starting the vehicle, particularly in cold weather conditions.
In the central relay box, locate the plug for the glow relay of a 2012 Hyundai Sonata.
