In the 2014 Chevy Silverado, the oil pressure control solenoid is positioned in the oil pan near the oil pump. This component regulates the pressure emitted by the oil pump into the engine. An abnormal oil pressure reading could indicate a failing solenoid, prompting the need for replacement. Accessing the solenoid will require removing the oil pan from the vehicle. Typically, the replacement cost for this solenoid is around $200. A complete failure may trigger a check engine light with code P06DD on the dashboard. It is advisable to regularly check your oil to prevent debris from causing damage to the components.

It is clear evidence of foolishness to place an electronic sensor within an oil pan. The engineers behind this clearly lacked the necessary knowledge or practical experience for the job. Having an electronic sensor in the oil pan, where oil at temperatures over 200 degrees splashes around, with an electric connector, will undoubtedly lead to frequent maintenance. In a 4WD vehicle application, this will result in a hefty $1400 labor bill. Good job, GM. Keep it up.
