The oxygen sensors in the car are positioned along the air intake pipe. The 2004 BMW X3 has a total of 4 sensors in its system. These sensors are responsible for ensuring that the engine receives the right amount of air. If there is not enough or too much air, the car will run either too rich or too lean. This can lead to the engine working harder and possibly resulting in reduced power. Over time, this increased strain can cause damage to the engine, so it's important to prevent this from happening.
The 02 sensors for the 2004 BMW X3 can be found on both sides of the engine block close to the exhaust manifolds, with an additional sensor positioned on the exhaust system following the catalytic converter.
