In your 2018 Ford Explorer, the spare tire is located under the rear of the vehicle, right before the rear bumper. It is secured in place by a retainer and a retainer cable. The Explorer is equipped with a specific tool from the factory to lower the cable and release the retainer. If you don't have this tool, you should reach out to a Ford dealer since a standard socket wrench won't work for lowering the retainer cable. Uncover the first cargo cover closest to the rear of the vehicle to access the spare tire retainer winch. Use the winch wrench to loosen the winch and bring down the spare tire. Check the tire's position after a few turns, and continue turning until the tire reaches the ground and the retainer cable has some slack in it.
The spare tire is stored inside the vehicle, located behind the back seats.
