The 2008 Chevy Silverado has a transfer case control module located on the left side of the steering wheel behind the driver's dashboard. This module, known as TCCM, is in charge of executing requests to switch the drivetrain between "normal," 4WD, 4-high, or 4-low. There is a shift knob on the left side of the driver's dashboard that communicates with the TCCM to facilitate the drivetrain change. If there is a communication issue between the TCCM and the PCM, a warning light will turn on. Common signs of TCCM failure include a warning on the instrument panel, difficulty shifting to 4WD, and engine hesitation. Replacing this module typically costs between $530 and $620 including parts and labor.
