The 2006 Chevy HHR is equipped with a sealed transmission, meaning there is no dipstick located under the hood for easy access. If you believe there is an issue with the transmission fluid, you can still inspect it, but you will need a hydraulic lift or a buddy who is employed at an oil change facility to help you out.

There is no dipstick for the automatic transmission. Instead, there is a screw-on cap located on the driver's side between the fender and the engine for filling. Additionally, there is a check-level plug on the passenger side near the bottom of the pan. To check the transmission fluid level, make sure the car is level, then remove the plug. If transmission fluid runs out, it is overfilled. If no fluid comes out, add some. If there is a steady drip, the level is good.
