The 2019 Dodge Charger requires full synthetic oil with a viscosity of sae 5w-20 and a capacity of 7 quarts. To change the oil in the car, begin by ensuring that the vehicle has been parked and turned off for a couple of hours to allow the oil to cool down. Locate the oil pan in the engine compartment and find the drain plug underneath. Place a bucket beneath the plug and remove it to let the oil drain into the pan. Allow it to drain completely, which could take up to an hour. Once the dripping stops, reattach the drain plug, then find the intake port on top of the oil pan. Utilize a funnel to fill the oil pan to the full level, being careful not to overfill. It's okay to be slightly under, but too much oil can cause leaks and burning off. Once the oil pan is filled, secure the port, clean up any spills, and your oil change is complete.

I own a 2019 Dodge Charger Daytona and am curious about the specific type of oil it requires. Is it 0W-40?

Not everyone uses full synthetic oil in their vehicle. I own a 2019 car with a 3.6L engine that requires regular 5w-20 oil.

The 2019 Dodge Charger requires different types of oil depending on the engine size. The 3.6L V6 uses 5.9 quarts of SAE 5W-20 full synthetic oil, while the 5.7L V8 and the 6.2L and 6.4L V8 engines need 7 quarts of either 5W-20 or 0W-40 oil.

Dodge recommends using full synthetic 0W-40 oil for the Hellcat and Scat Pack Hemi engines, while regular oil is suitable for the V6 engines. Switching to synthetic oil allows for longer intervals between oil changes. However, even with synthetic oil, I stick to changing the oil in my Hellcat every 3,000 miles.

Every up-to-date gasoline engine is compatible with fully synthetic oil. There does not exist a sensor that can accurately detect whether the oil in your engine is synthetic or not, haha.

  • Nanamo

It is not compatible with synthetic oil. I am not sure where the misinformation about the '06 Dodge Charger RT needing synthetic oil came from, but that is incorrect. Using synthetic oil will trigger a sensor warning and indicate that it is not suitable. This car does not require synthetic oil.
