The 2013 Ford Escape uses 28-inch wipers for both the driver and passenger sides. Eventually, these wipers will wear out and need to be replaced every 6 to 12 months. If you neglect to do so, you may experience streaks and unpleasant sounds when using them, leading to potential problems with the wiper system. This could include a blown fuse or a faulty wiper motor, worn-out blades, or a malfunctioning delay module. It's essential to address these issues promptly either by replacing them yourself or seeking assistance from a nearby auto shop.

The 2013 Ford Escape is equipped with a 27-inch wiper blade on each side, with separate part numbers for the driver's side and passenger's side. I'm not sure where the idea of using a 28-inch blade originated from. You can probably choose any length you prefer, but the original equipment manufacturer recommends using the 27-inch blades with part numbers 2750 and 2705.
