In 2014, Honda issued a recall for 2006-2009 Civics due to engine block cracks and coolant leaks, offering engine replacement. The warranty, extended to ten years, expired by 2019, indicating a common issue. Signs of trouble include coolant leakage or overheating. For further details on causes and solutions, refer to Technical Service Bulletin TSB 10-048. It's regrettable that the timing for addressing this significant problem has passed.

Hello, I noticed that the recall mentioned in Technical Service Bulletin 10-048 was completed in 2019. Recently, my son's car has been experiencing a problem where coolant is leaking from the area next to the exhaust manifold. He has to refill the coolant every other day. I have been informed that many dealers will no longer address this issue once the ten-year mark from 2019 has passed.

Honda is providing a complimentary engine replacement, either a new engine block or a completely new engine, to owners of 2006 to 2008 Civics and some early 2009 models who experienced a coolant leak from the engine block. This free service is available for all Civics except the hybrid and Civic Si models, effectively extending the warranty to 10 years regardless of the mileage.
