The 2005 Nissan Altima doesn't come with a cvt transmission. It's important to change the transmission fluid every 30,000 to 60,000 miles to prevent issues. Ignoring fluid changes can lead to unpleasant sounds from the transmission, deteriorating the performance. A worn-out torque converter can also become a problem, impacting the functionality of the vehicle. The transmission plays a crucial role and experiencing problems with it is inevitable. Issues like delayed shifts, slipping transmission, shudders, jerking, and stuck gears can occur. Leaking transmission fluid should be promptly addressed to avoid further complications.

The 2005 Nissan Altima does not offer a CVT transmission. Instead, it provides four transmission choices: a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual (exclusive to the SE-R model), a 4-speed automatic, and a 5-speed manumatic (available on the 3.5L SE, 3.5L SL, or 3.5L SE-R models only).

In that case, it could work out. I prefer pre-owned vehicles that can typically reach 300,000 miles or more as long as they are well-maintained. However, the CVT transmissions commonly failed at 150,000 miles or less.

If the car doesn't have a CVT transmission, nobody mentions what type of transmission it is.
