I have a 2012 GMC Sierra here and just removed the bottom panel, along with the glove box. It seems that there is a potential spot for a cabin filter in the big bottom air plenum, but it's currently sealed off. I believe there are retrofit kits available where you can cut a small slot in the plenum, insert a filter, and secure it with a bottom holding piece. Behind the glove box, there was a blower and a screen measuring around 4"x6", but there doesn't appear to be a large opening for a cabin filter to be installed.

My 2012 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton truck doesn't come with a cabin filter, which I find strange that GM doesn't include one. It's like beer cans not having one. You just drive it for 150,000 miles and then get rid of it, thanks to GM! There's a YouTube video showing how to retrofit one, but they don't even give a part number. It's a bit fishy, isn't it?
