Does the 2012 Kia Forte come equipped with a timing belt or a timing chain?

The 2012 Kia Forte is outfitted with a timing chain rather than a timing belt, which has its benefits. Unlike belts that typically require replacement every 60,000 to 100,000 miles, chains usually do not need to be replaced. Chains only need inspection every 150,000 miles or so. Chains tend to last the lifespan of the engine as they are housed inside and not exposed like belts, which are external and exposed. Any issues with the chain, such as unusual sounds or timing problems, can be detected if they occur.
