While newer Acura ILX models come with a timing chain, the 2014 version is equipped with a timing belt. As you may be aware, it is advisable to have the timing belt replaced, typically every seven years or at around 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. The average cost for replacing the timing belt is approximately $200 for the belt itself and between $300 to $400 for the labor to install it. Signs that your timing belt may be failing include unusual engine noises, misfiring, rough idling, loss of power, and the illumination of the check engine light (CEL).
